Regarding Men and Angels

This was not written by me but I felt it was so well done I should post it.

The Holy angels (in contrast to the fallen angels – Satan and Co.) worship, praise and serve God in continual glad obedience. [Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Psalm 103:20 and Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" Revelation 5:11-13] They took (and take) great delight in all of God’s creative acts [when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Job 38:7] and are visibly interested in the truths of the gospel and it’s recipients [It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Peter 1:12, And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:9-11, But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20"Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life." Acts 5:19-20]. The good angels save the redeemed [Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14], rejoice over the conversion of sinners [Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10], watch over believers [The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:7 and, For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11], protect little ones [See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:10], are present in the church [That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels 1 Corinthians 11:10, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 3:10 and In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.1 Timothy 5:21] and convey believers into the bosom of Abraham [The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, Luke 16:22]. They also can and do bear special revelations from God [while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice. He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, "O Daniel, I have now come out to give you insight and understanding. At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision. Daniel 9:21-23, Then the angel of the LORD said, 'O LORD of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?' 13And the LORD answered gracious and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. 14So the angel who talked with me said to me, 'Cry out, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion. Zechariah 1:12-14], communicate blessings to people [For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11, 12, In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them;in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 63:9, My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm." Daniel 6:22, But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, Acts 5:19] and judgments on enemies [The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth Genesis 19:1, And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. 2 Kings 19:35 and The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, Matthew 13:41].

The Holy angels have never and will never disparage or demean that which is most precious to their Lord, they love, protect and cherish what He loves, protects and cherishes and that is the redeemed specifically via covenant redemptive love [See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.1 John 3:1-3  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.  We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:7-19] The rest of humanity are under common grace and are considered wicked/unrighteous yet still He takes no pleasure in their destruction [Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 33:11], neither would His messengers/servants, the Holy angels. The only angels that do enjoy and encourage human failure is Satan and his hordes [Job 1 and 2, Genesis 3, Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8, In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; Ephesians 6:16]. Holy angels may bring correction or chastisement to the elect or non-elect so that God’s glory and purposes are preserved [On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. And the people were shouting, "The voice of a god, and not of a man!" Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last. But the word of God increased and multiplied.
Acts 12:21-24, (Zecharieh struck dumb) Luke 1:8-20, 2 Kings 19:25-26, Since they had been without food for a long time, Paul stood up among them and said, "Men, you should have listened to me and not have set sail from Crete and incurred this injury and loss. Yet now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, 24and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told. But we must run aground on some island."Acts 27:21-26,  And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. And he said to me, "O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you." And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia,  and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come." Daniel 10:10-14, Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God." For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10].

In Job 25:4-6 we have Bildad overstating mankind’s impurity and worthlessness with no hint of grace. Bildad had a very pessimistic view of man. The doctrine of total depravity is not pessimistic but it is the truth and so the backdrop of the wonders of redeeming grace – even in the depths of sin, human beings still retain something in the image of God and giving each person dignity and value. It is because God has made men and women to mirror and reflect  some things about Him, though badly marred; these communicable attributes are to show the world something about what God is like (Jesus being the perfect expression of course [He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Hebrews 1:3, Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?  John 14:9]). In redemption through the lifelong process of sanctification, ‘we’ become more and more Christ-like [For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29, Ephesians 5:1-7] as we have been given His moral nature [by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 2 Peter 1:4] and are the crowning achievement of God’s creative power. For the above mentioned reasons, His servants never would act in a demeaning way towards God’s children [For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:14-17] who are joint heirs with Christ and will rule and reign with Him [for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[a] nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise. Galatians 3:26-29, Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matthew 25:34, if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;  2 Timothy 2:12], else why are they not saying “You worthless thing, Gideon…” instead of “Oh mighty man of valor…” or to Peter in prison, “Hey stupid, get up!!” [Acts 12:5-11]

So much to be thankful for....

I am so thankful today. Yesterday I was filled with things I was thankful for and I would like to share them today. Number one, I am thankful for my salvation and my relationship with Jesus Christ. I am thankful that He receives me and blesses me though I do not deserve any of His blessings and I am thankful that His favor and love does not depend on my performance, which is quite poor most of the time.
Next I am thankful that by God’s providence, I have a home to share with my Christian brother. I am thankful He has used it to expand on my brother’s already very generous nature, but also to refine and improve upon our friendship as well as encourage one another in our walk.
I am thankful to His answered prayer for me to have Christian neighbors that are wonderfully giving, uplifting and a joy to be around. Having a talented cook/baker/chef is icing on the cake (pun totally intended).
I am SO thankful for the Christian family that has ‘adopted’ me. Marc and Deanna have been like wonderful brother and sister to me that have provided fellowship, wisdom and council. Stephanie and Monica are like nieces that are a joy to be around and I am blessed to be a part of their lives and be able to witness as they mature into adults. Seeing the respect they have for their parents, the maturity they display at their ages are a testimony to the biblical parenting that Marc and Deanna have done and are an inspiration I hope to emulate when I become a parent.
I am thankful to have been able to go to school for the past year and all the learning I have been able to do, which means I am even thankful for Algebra. I am thankful I have been able to get certified in scuba, learn how to play golf properly (not that I’ve improved but at least I have some fundamentals to draw upon). I am thankful that my car is paid for, in my name and has consistently been reliable in getting me to and from school as well as anywhere else I would like to get to.
I am thankful that my old friend Melissa is cared for and is far away from her abuser. I am also thankful that she is open to the bible and sees the value of God’s word and that she has seen the change that He has wrought in my life.
I am thankful for the experience of the death of my dear mother in Christ because it was the first time I had ever had the assurance of someone being with the Lord after their death. I am so thankful to have known her and for the testimony and instruction she blessed me with.
I am thankful that I still have a relationship with some of my family and that a number of them know Christ. I am thankful that I was able to see my cousin Vickie and Fred and Karen last summer. I really hope the Lord will make a way for me to visit them next year.
I am thankful I was able to see more concerts than I’ve ever seen in one year before (three).
I am thankful for many other things but I must get ready for Thanksgiving dinner now. I hope what I’m thankful might remind you of things you may have forgotten that you appreciate and thank you for reading. :o)

God Bless America or Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth?

Weeping and gnashing of teeth. I’ve read that numerous times and while it meant something to me, it didn’t have direct, personal meaning for me. It does now. I was at the mall today and I was filled with a great amount of sadness. I looked at all the people going about their consumer driven lives, children who grew up in a ‘politically correct’ America and have no idea of the freedoms and liberty they are now losing. My weeping is not external but my heart has been heavy just the same. Ever since reading about the horrible airport experience of a dear friend of mine (I will provide the link upon request) I have been in mourning for the demise of freedom in this country – and it’s barely audible whimper as it dies. I understand gnashing of teeth as well now because I’m so angry as the shackles are put on us. And we had it coming. “God bless America” bumper stickers proclaim. Why? Why should He? He blessed us with the founding of this country – He blessed us RICHLY for over 100 years! And then we kicked Him out. We have taken His mandate to not murder and declared it to be a right. We do not punish those that murder, instead we let them live. We have allowed over the past 60 years to have the declaration of independence to be a “living document” that gets reinterpreted every few years to meet the agenda of whatever political majority wants. The first amendment which was adopted back in 1791 was enacted originally to protect religions has, since the 1900’s been used to systematically take God and His word out of America, from removing the posting of the 10 commandments in local courthouses, to the banning of public prayer on city, state or federal property. Don’t get me started on Christmas trees. We promote sin to nth degree – from our own Sodom and Gomorrah called Vegas – what’s it’s nickname? Sin City. SIN CITY! We’ve flagrantly ignored His mandates, His wisdom and called them outdated and say that things change. “I the Lord, do not change” it says in Malachi 3. No, the only change is how much people allow sin and the only thing that changes is their tolerance of sin until their consciences are seared to numbness. We do all this and even while under judgment as we are now, we still say “God bless, America”. It’s akin to Parents leaving for the weekend, the children burning half the house down with a party that they were told not to have, wrecking the car, and then when the parents get home, instead of being repentant or feeling an ounce of guilt – greeting the horrified parents with a 10 page Christmas gift list – “Here’s what I want”. Yeah….. I don’t think so. Weeping and gnashing of teeth.
My apologies for the scattered way in which I’ve written this – I hope to do a better job next time when I am perhaps just a tad less passionate….

Here we go...

I don't know how long I've had this blog now but months later I am finally making my first entry. I hope those that are following this will add their e-mail to be alerted when I update - as "often" as I have blogged, they should have no worries about spam ;o) (Stephanie - I may be asking you for help on setting that up)

I have a lot of Linux labs to get through this weekend but I wanted to at least get this started and I will be doing at least one full post during my Winter break.
